I am a junior Theatre major and American Studies minor at Boston College. Originally from the Boston area, my current home is in Cape Town, South Africa!
A lot of people have asked me why I chose to go to University of Cape Town. Why not Europe? If I’m studying theatre, why not London? Well, I decided on UCT for multiple reasons, the first being that I don’t speak another language, so that certainly limited my options. But I knew I wanted to study abroad in a country that I thought I may never be able to visit again; Europe, at least to me, seems so much more accessible, and South Africa is quite the opposite. Cape Town also has an absolutely amazing theatre scene and is home to Handspring Puppet Company, that group that created the puppets for War Horse (which I am obsessed with, if I may say so myself). Also, the idea of going on a safari quickly caught my eye. 😉 Having been lucky enough to spend two weeks in India during my senior year of high school, I wanted to experience a culture and place that is unfamiliar to me. And I absolutely cannot wait to begin my adventure in South Africa!
Love you, doll! Enjoy it all! Plus you’re a very good writer.
